    Along with my Axios colleagues Danielle Alberti and Will Chase, I was featured in Ch. 18 'Smart Brevity' of Alberto Cairo's book, 'The Art of Insight' and talked about I was inspired to get into data visualization and my approach to visual projects.

    I've given this talk numerous times over the years in different formats. This talk outlines how to make a good chart by asking 3 main questions: what's your point? How can you emphasize your point in your chart? What does the final chart show exactly? Starting with a spreadsheet, this talk walks through the creation process step by step.

  • Getting Sassy with Pixel Art

    The practice of "pushing pixels" to create simple, iconic art has been used in everything from classic video games to cross-stitch. In this talk, I demonstrate how you can level up your CSS knowledge by creating your very own pixel art using Sass (and a single line of HTML). Featuring cats, frogs, & a dinosaur.
